Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialized skill offered by certified physiotherapists. This is a recognized and medically recommended service as the first line of defence for both bladder and bowel dysfunction, as well as pelvic pain.
Common conditions treated include urinary incontinence (leakage), bladder dysfunctions (retention, frequency/ overactive, urgency),
pelvic organ prolapses, bowel dysfunction (leakage, constipation), prenatal- postnatal pain, pregnancy preparation/ education and pelvic girdle pain (in men and women).
Standard initial assessment always includes a full orthopaedic exam, as well as an internal (vaginal/ rectal) exam (which can be completed during pregnancy).

Alexis has been studying the human body since 2013 when she began growing her own offspring in her womb. Her journey has included certifications in Yoga, Hypnotherapy and Reiki. Her curiosity and love of learning led her to pursue a career in Massage Therapy which she has found to be both rewarding and challenging. She approaches each patient with a personal approach to ensure that their treatment plan is specific to their goals. Alexis has had success treating patients with a broad spectrum of conditions from TMJ to Plantar Fascitits. Alexis also offers RAPID Neurofascial Reset which is done over the clothes with no oil or lotion. Each RAPID session is a combination of examination and treatment. This is a movement based massage technique that addresses the nervous system’s role in alleviating pain, tension, and restrictions in muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.

Alexis enjoys being challenged with new opportunities and looks forward to assisting you with your health care goals.

When she is not in the clinic she enjoys gardening, cooking and spending time with her 2 daughters and husband in their country log home in Maberly.

Tracy is available for appointments on Mondays. Tracy holds a B.Science in Kinesiology and 200HR RYT Yoga Diploma with Hamsa Yoga. She has spent her career working with people of all different ages and injury histories. Assisting people to heal and to improve or maintain their mobility has been her challenge and her passion.

When Tracy was faced with chronic pain and a major change in lifestyle, she was drawn to using Yoga as a healing modality. Now Tracy combines the science of Kinesiology and her Yoga Teacher Training and applies this in her work to help others to heal and to improve their lives. She has been fortunate to lead exercises for an inspiring group of high-risk seniors. It is her belief that Yoga should be available to everyone, and that all can benefit. Tracy has taken additional training in Teaching Yoga to Seniors, Chair Yoga and Ursui Reiki. She is a Bonefit and HeartWise Certified Instructor and in May 2020 embarked on an 800 hour journey to becoming a Certified Yoga Therapist.

Annabelle McNutt graduated from Queen’s University with both a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master’s of Physical Therapy. She has worked in both Ontario and Calgary, Alberta at busy private orthopaedic clinics and has now settled in Perth to immerse in a specialized profession in pelvic health. Annabelle is extremely passionate about her work, hoping to bring light to the importance of pelvic floor preventative and rehabilitative care, ending the stigma behind talking about sexual health, bladder/bowel function, and the well-being of our “private parts”. She takes a wholistic approach to care, utilizing education, manual therapy, acupuncture/dry needling, soft tissue release, and exercise prescription to ensure that each client receives an independently tailored treatment plan. She has taken a number of specialized courses in pelvic health to date and continues to regularly pursue more. She also has the training to fit clients with pessary devices. Annabelle enjoys living an active lifestyle and staying busy with her husband and her two small children. Andrea is available for appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Andrea Misener has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph. Andrea has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1997, working at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. She has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient programs treating clients with neurological, orthopaedic, prosthetic, and cardiorespiratory issues. As a busy mother of four, Andrea is very aware of the challenges of breast feeding. She is also very aware of the benefits of breastfeeding and the need for community support in this very worthwhile investment. Due to her belief in life long learning and ongoing interest in women’s health issues, Andrea has added breast health Physiotherapy as a new area of focus to her practice. She provides assessment and treatment for inflammatory conditions of the lactating breast as well as breast cancer rehabilitation. Lynn received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Honours from Acadia University. She began practice in Sackville, Nova Scotia in 2002 where she gained experience in work and motor vehicle accident, sport injuries and rehabilitation. Following a move to Ottawa, Ontario she gained experience in private practice in areas of athletic training and conditioning, corporate fitness, health and wellness consulting, personal training, physical conditioning, work hardening, office ergonomics, exercise prescription, orthotic construction and functional capacity evaluations. She continued her learning and education in a hospital setting specializing in post operative orthopedics, cerebrovascular accident, geriatric and ambulatory care, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, co-morbid conditions, kinesio taping, back education, diabetic teaching, stroke care and management, health and safety awareness, infection control, palliative care services and obtained Glad Certification. She has 2 children and enjoys an active lifestyle of running, skiing and swimming. Andrea is a registered physiotherapist with extensive post graduate training and clinical experience in pelvic health dysfunctions, for both men and women. In 2003, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Queens University & prior to that a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with honours at Ottawa University. Andrea began her physio career in Burlington, Ontario, where she gained experience in all areas of hospital medicine and rehabilitation care. Then she returned to the Ottawa area to join a private orthopedic practice in 2010. Andrea has two young children, and has a strong interest in health and wellness of pre and post-partum moms. Andrea takes pride in offering assessments and individualized treatments of pelvic health dysfunctions such as; bowel/ bladder complaints (frequency, urgency, incontinence), pelvic organ prolapse, postpartum abdominal separation, prenatal care, as well as various forms of pelvic pain (vulvodynia, persistent lumbopelvic & pelvic girdle pain).

Andrea is also a pelvic health educator and regularly hosts public workshops in her local community and offers health professional colleagues (such as residents physicians, physio and massage therapists), 1-1 in clinic shadowing/ mentorships and most recently has joined the Pelvic Health Solutions team, as a teaching lab assistant. Andrea is the co-founder of BIRTHtalks workshops for pregnant moms, and the CORE + floor rehabilitation physio program for new moms. Most recently, Andrea was thrilled to be invited to experience and present a pelvic health educational and interactive workshop at the most recent 2020 CPMG/ CWIM fitness challenge and retreat in Canmore, Alberta.
