Suzanne Rintoul
(She/Her)
Registered Practical Nurse
Suzanne is a Registered Practical Nurse with over 20 years of experience providing nursing care in a primary care setting. Her primary clinical focus is on women’s health across the lifespan, including continence, vulvar and pelvic health, and maternal-infant support.
She has completed additional education in Maternal Infant Nursing and holds a Certificate in Continence Management through Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada (NSWOCC). Her advanced training in pessary care, including assessment and fitting for pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence, further strengthens her ability to provide evidence-driven pelvic health care. Suzanne studied Health Care Leadership at the University of Toronto, where she achieved strong academic results. She is a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and belongs to the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO).
Suzanne is known for providing thoughtful care that helps clients feel heard, understood, and supported in managing their health. She creates a safe and welcoming space where patients can speak openly about sensitive concerns and receive practical, personalized guidance tailored to their individual needs.
Throughout her career, Suzanne has brought leadership, professionalism, and compassion to initiatives that respond to local needs. Beyond her clinical work, her passion for helping older adults live with dignity, independence, and connection has been reflected in much of her volunteer and community involvement. She is a cofounder of the PEP Seniors Therapeutic Centre, a program that supports older adults in remaining in their own homes as long as possible. Developed through teamwork with a local physician she worked with at the time, the initiative combined Suzanne’s care for seniors with the practical support and resources needed to bring the program to life. She has volunteered with PEP since its inception in 2014 and later served for three years in the formal role of Executive Director. While employed in that role, she also served as Community Partner Lead with the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Health Unit during the COVID-19 community response, further reflecting her commitment to community health.
Shortly after the establishment of PEP, it became evident that bringing memory care closer to home would be a valuable service for the community. Suzanne and a local physician were pleased to complete the training needed to help establish the MINT Primary Care Memory Clinic in Perth, with valuable support from the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Alzheimer Society. This work helped improve early identification, care coordination, and quality of life for those experiencing cognitive change. Suzanne was also involved in the application process for the Perth Family Health Team and served as Executive Director during its establishment, supporting the early organizational work needed to bring team-based primary care to the community.
Suzanne brings a strong understanding of available healthcare programs and services to her practice, helping patients and families feel informed and connected to appropriate care. Over the years, the knowledge, teamwork, and trusted relationships she has built with physician colleagues and healthcare partners have helped shape her thoughtful approach to care and guided her toward this next chapter in her nursing practice.
This connection to community is also deeply personal for Suzanne. She is grateful that her parents are aging in good health at home in the Perth community, and she values her close-knit family and trusted friendships. She is especially close with her four sons and cherishes the families they have built, including her close relationships with her daughters-in-law. She also finds great joy in being a grandmother to nine wonderful grandchildren. Her strong sense of family, friendship, and community brings empathy, perspective, and warmth to her compassionate, family-centred approach to care.
